TEST STUDY ON THE BOND STRESS-SLIP RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CONCRETE AND STEEL BARS

Bond-slip relationship is a basic and important problem of the bond behavior of steel bars and concrete. The bond stress has a relation with not only the slip but also the position. In order to present accurately the relationship of bond stress versus slippage, the equations of the stress of steel bars, the bond stress and the relative slip between steel bars and concrete are deduced by theoretical analysis. An experimental investigation is conducted on reinforced concrete specimens to check the validity of analytical predictions. The results of theoretical predictions are compared satisfactorily with the experimental data on reinforced concrete specimens. On the basis of theoretical and experimental analysis, the position functions that reveal the relationship of bond stress versus slippage varying with the position are suggested. According to the pullout test of two kinds of corroded steel bars, the bond behavior of corroded plain and deformed bars was discussed then. On the basis of the test data, the formulas of bond strength of corroded steel bars were established. This paper also gave the relationship of bond stress and slip of corroded bars and concrete, varying with the time and the position, which could reflect the bond behavior of steel bar and concrete comprehensively.
