In this work a real soil has been treated by means of sodium percarbonate or ozone. The experimental setup tried to simulate a real application by feeding of oxidizing agents through a well with injections ports located at different heights in a column. The results obtained by injecting sodium percarbonate showed a high data dispersion likely due to channeling effects. As a consequence, accurate predictions and efficiencies are difficult to obtain and only trends can be suggested. Positive effects expected by temperature and reagent dosage are in some cases hindered by a higher extent in hydrogen peroxide inefficient decomposition and scavenging reactions. Use of gaseous ozone significantly avoid channeling effects. A higher elimination of heavy PAHs is observed when using this oxidant.
