摘要

This study assesses the carbon storage rate in mangrove soils of Atasta Peninsula at 30 and 60 cm depth during three different climatic periods. The ratio C/N showed a low degradation rate of organic matter in all sampling sites evaluated. The carbon storage was influenced by type of vegetation. The higher values of carbon storage rate were found in soils with an association between Black and Red mangrove (300 to 375 kg C m~(-2)) whereas the lower values were found in soils where Buttonwood Mangrove (45 to 49 kg C m~(-2)) was the dominant specie. The obtained results in the studied ecosystem are the first estimations of carbon storage in the zone, and suggest the potential of this site as a carbon pool.
