The pre-extraction of pentosan from sugarcane bagasse(SCB)were performed with 7.5%,17.5%,27.5%,and 37.5%(mass fraction)of NaOH aqueous solutions at 25,35,45,and 55℃ for 4,8,16,32 days by orthogonal experiment.Analysis of variance indicated that the temperature was the most important factor throughout the experiments,the time and alkaline concentration followed after.The optimal condition of orthogonal experiment was under 37.5%NaOH aqueous solution at 55℃ for 4 days,when the pentosan also klason lignin contents were the minimum,9.54%and 7.04%,respectively.But,It was found that the pentosan content in the residue was also decreased to ca.10%,which is equivalent to 73.15%of pentosan removal rate,even with the lower NaOH concentration 7.5%NaOH at the lower temperature 35℃ for 8 days.In short,more than half of pentosan in bagasse can easily extracted with NaOH aqueous solution at less than 40℃.
