The contradiction between the traditional culture and the theme of era gets the enterprises into dilemma. rnIn the practice of constructing corporation culture, the enterprises are also facing the same dilemmas. rnThey will face the management thoughts, the core conception of value and other realistic questions. To rnconstruct corporation culture, Chinese enterprisers need the corporations and the academics to cooperate rntogether, to inherit the national culture and to combine the essence of traditional culture with the foreign rnculture. And in practice, we should summarize the successful experience and the excellent management rnthoughts to form the Chinese characteristic corporation culture.rnAll cultures experience clashes when they want to absorb elements from other cultures, which are rnfundamentally different from their own. Chinese culture is no exception. As the economic reform rncontinues, more and more Western businesses are entering the Chinese market, bringing with them rnWestern philosophies and values. Having lived in a culture that has thousands of years of history and a rndeep-rooted value system, Chinese enterprisers find it all the more difficult to accept useful Western rnphilosophies while holding on to the valuable traditional values in their endeavor to increase the rncompetitiveness of their firms. rnThe Chinese society as a whole has been experiencing the discrepancies between its own values and the rnnew concepts emerged as a result of the reform. For example, the legal system versus ruling by man, rndemocracy and the notion of loyalty and piety, fair competition versus equal allocation, the creativeness rnand the conservativeness, etc. These cultural conflicts show that China has to find a way that will allow rnit to absorb critically Western ideologies while maintaining the essential values. Sticking to the past will rnonly lead to total failure as history has repeatedly shown. rnComparing to economic development in China, advancement in social sciences has been very limited. rnHistory has shown us that a society will have a hard time to stand on its own without maintaining its rnown cultural roots. Likewise, firms should also build their own corporate cultures in order to survive and rnbecome increasingly competitive. Chinese enterprisers have to maintain the essential traditional values rnwhile accepting Western ideas in order to be able to survive and compete with the foreign competitors.
