Nowadays, the environmental issues that arise due to thernoperation of fossil-fueled electrical generators have become arnmatter of grave concern in the power systems field. Thisrnpaper presents the mathematical formulation andrnimplementation of Dynamic Environmental/EconomicrnDispatch (DEED) in the deregulated power markets underrndifferent carbon emission reduction policies; carbon tax,rncap-and-trade system. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO)rnhas been adopted to investigate the economic impact of bothrncarbon tax rate and carbon allowance on power dispatchrnproblem. The results from an illustrative case study based onrnthe modified IEEE 30-bus system are analyzed.
