INDEPENDENT RD TECHNOLOGY INTRODUCTION AND PRODUCTIVITY GROWTH IN DEVELOPING COUNTRY:EVIDENCES FROM CHINESE LARGE AND MEDIUM-SIZED ENTERPRISES OF INDUSTRIES

This paper examines the effects of the independence R&D, technology introduction of Chinese Large and Medium-sized Enterprises to the productivity growth, using the data from thirty-two kinds of industries during the period 1996 - 2003. The find shows that although the industries with a higher R&D investment have higher productivity growth rates, R&D investment is not the reason that causes the differences. Independence R&D in vestment has an unfavorable impact on out-puts, especially in the industries with higher R&D investment, Re turn of R&D investment to productivity is poor. Foreign technology introduction only promotes technology pro gress but doesn’t push the other productivity growth. Scale economy and capital deepening are the important factors to improve the technology.
