Contamination of staples (corn and wheat) with Fusarium species has been suspected to be associated with the risk of human esophageal cancer (HEC) in Linxian, Henan Province in China. In relation to the comparative chemical study on the natural occurrence of mycotoxins in the HEC area, mycoflora of the staples and mycotoxin production of Fusarium isolates were studied.
