摘要

To reduce clipping artifacts caused by local dimming in LED backlight, backlight luminance precompensation method is proposed. In this method, we firstly calculate the luminance of backlight of each block, and then determine whether clipping artifacts will occur at such luminance. Finally, local blocks with clipping artifacts will be pre-compensated. The experiment results show that the pre-compensation method can reduce clipping artifacts effectively and the power consumption does not increase significantly.
