Laser 3D display system based on polarization compensated LCOS optical engine take RGB laser with wavelength of 635nm, 532nm and 445nm as the light source, utilize the polarization loss of the traditional LCOS optical engine, realize 3D display and enhance the efficiency of the optical engine when worked in 2D display mode. The polarization compensated LCOS optical engine is mainly composed of two same field-sequential LCOS panels and PBS prisms, RGB laser of different polarization directions entered into optical engine is split into two part with orthogonal linear polarization, each polarization correspond to one of two LCOS panels. In 3D operation, one LCOS panel produces a right-eye image and the other a left-eye image, through the same projection lens, these two images are combined and projected to polarization maintaining metal screen, realize 3D display in single optical engine. When in 2D operation, the same image is presented on each LCOS, producing a double-brightness image on the screen, this improved laser 3D display system realize 3D display, as well as enhance the efficiency of the optical engine when worked in 2D display mode, almost all the light emitted by the lasers is utilized in the process of imaging.
