We are testing the hypothesis that a rapid exchange of corolary discharges and perceptual signals occurs between the entorhinal cortex (EN) and the primary sensory cortices (PCSs), preceding a conditioning stimulus (CS) and between a CS+ and a conditioned response (CR) in a fixed intertrial interval appetitive bar release paradigm. Auto and coherence spectrographs are "1/f" type with excess power in the gamma and beta bands. Phase and delay plots indicate that the EN tends to lead the PSCs before stimulus onset, and the PSCs lead after the onset of the CSs. Zero time-lag synchronization was found to be greater in task than at rest. Errors between Jacobian matrices of nonlinear functions of neural activity, estimated from two sets of trials, reveal peaks, which may be useful for time segmentation of EEGs relating to cortical state transitons during perceptual tasks.
