Groundwater remediation has become one of the top international issues in new generation of environmental applications.The central challenge must be developing a robust reservoir simulator for detailed,refined-grids geological models.In this paper,we present a parallel solver for large linear systems arising from the finite-difference discretization of three-dimensional groundwater flow equation.The primary goal of this research is to develop an efficient,flexible and scalable parallel preconditioned solver for large-scale groundwater simulation to overcome the limitations of singleCPU based simulator.Our solver is based on preconditioned Krylov subspace methods and parallelized using a domain decomposition strategy and a single-program,multiple data (SPMD) paradigm.Numerical experiments have been carried out on Linux clusters,and the results demonstrate our solver could achieve desirable speedup,enhance the modeling capabilities and accelerate the simulation process significantly.
