Spatio-temporal Analysis of Farmland Change in Yunnan Province:1996-2008

Farmland is a kind of important resources for survival.It is the foundation of agriculture and protection of economic development.Spatio-analysis of farmland change is of significance to protect the area and quality of farmland.Based on GIS technology and spatial autocorrelation analysis,the spatial and temporal features of farmland change in Yunnan Province are investigated with statistical data.This study provides a new perspective about the situation of farmland in Yunnan,and a new basis for the adjustment of land-use policy in the Yunnan province.The results show:(1) the value of general Moran's (I) is 0.299517.It means that Yunnan farmland change presents weak positive spatial autocorrelation ; (2) the combination of local Moran's (I) with farmland variances ; the changes can be divided into 6 modes.This paper analyzes the causes of each mode; (3) farmland changes in Kunming,which is selected as a case.The study shows that reduction of farmland is affected by economic interests and policies.Finally,this paper puts forward some recommendations for the protection of farmland.
