Measuring Method of Resin Sand High Temperature Compressive Strength

The quality of casting is directly related to the high temperature mechanical properties of resin sand.The binder of resin sand is organic matter.Hydrocarbons will produce the reducing atmosphere which is big difference with the oxidizing atmosphere produced by green sand, sodium silicate sand and other inorganic binder sand.Therefore the measuring method of sand mixture high temperature compressive strength is not suitable for the detection of resin sand.The author used the self developed instrument to experiment.It was based on the test items, sample shape and sample size of sand high temperature performance at home and abroad.The strength difference of different hollow sample was bigger than that of the solid sample and its data is stable.Φ20/5×30mm was selected as the size of the hollow samples.1000 ℃ (If the resin sand is used for cast nonferrous alloy, its test temperature is 800 ℃) was selected as the test temperature of the resin sand high temperature compressive strength through the experiment.1min was selected as holding time of resin sand high temperature compressive strength.This measuring method can truthfully reflect the high temperature performance of resin sand.The variation coefficients of phenol-formaldehyde resin coated sand, furan resin self-setting sand and TEA resin sand are under 10%.It has a great help to the research of the resin sand high temperature performance.
