Statement of the Lao Delegation on Road Safety in Lao PDR

Lao PDR is a small, and landlocked country, surrounded by China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and Myanmar. The country has a population of 4.6 million people in an area of 236,800 square kilometers or roughly with a density of about 20 persons per square kilometer which is quite low for the region. Lao PDR remains one of the least developed countries in the world with a per capita income of about $350 in 1995.
