Power generation markets have been deregulated to a large extent and rapidly over the lastrnfew years worldwide. Thus, current requirements of the power plant market, for suppliers ofrnoverall plants as well as of components, have stiffened considerably in comparison with thernpast. In the environment of power trading and power exchanges, power plants have to defendrntheir economical position permanently [ 1 ].rnFor plants to be successful this means to have features that match with the requirements in thernnew business. The first set of requirements can be summarized as:rn1. implementation of technology to ensure predictable lowest possible life-cycle costs, highrnefficiencies both in full-load as well as part-load, combined with high outputrn2. the highest possible reliability and availability must achieved, combined with readily predictablernmaintenance time and a minimum of unplanned outage timern3. these objectives must be reached under specific customer requirements, adapted to localrnsite conditions, with short lead times.
