THE USE OF INFRA-RED THERMOGRAPHY IN DETERMINING MELT TEMPERATURE QUALITY

This paper will explain how the use of an infra-red thermo-graphic scanner will display a video image of the melt curtain temperature and any thermal variation across the melt curtain.This method of measuring the melt temperature variability is particularly useful for the start-up of a new or retrofitted extrusion coating line. Knowing the amount of temperature variation in the process, prior to actually coating or laminating will help ensure a quality product from the machine.
