Accelerated stress tests for evaluation of durability of perfluorinated and hydrocarbon proton exchange membranes (PFSA and HC-PEM) in proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) were examined. At the open circuit voltage(OCV) and relative humidity (RH) cycles, HC-PEM sometimes showed exceeding durability compared to PFSA. Power generation and OCV tests in high cell temperature, high anode humidity and low cathode humidity conditions were examined in order to accelerate. The cells were diagnosed and the drain analysis were performed. Post-test analysis included micro mechanical strength testing and EPMA measurement of MEA.
