Abstract: The prism coupling in Kretschmann configuration for the study of ultrathin metallic films is discussed. An interpretation of the results for Ag and Fe thin films is given. The special attention is devoted the possibility to use this technique for the measurement of the linear and quadratic magneto-optical effects in thin film magnetic media.!9
