Electroform replication of ultrasmooth mirrors for x-ray astronomy

Abstract: paper we describe the fabrication of replica Wolter I optics from gold-coated lacquer-polished mandrels and the effect of plating bath temperature on the surface quality of electroforms produced from lacquer-polished substrates. We also discuss the use of ceramic masters to electroform replicas having high-frequency surface roughness as low as 3 angstroms. !4
