Achieving optimum performance of arndemineralizer requires understanding of the dynamicrnvariables that impact resins and systems. This paperrndiscusses several environmental, chemical, andrnmechanical variables with the objective of improving arndemineralizer performance and reducing operating costs.rnAspects that are reviewed include affects of influent waterrnquality, factors affecting useful resin life, performance ofrncation and anion resins, and the impact of sulfuric andrnhydrochloric acids for regeneration of the cation.rnAdditionally, performance of co-flow and counter-flowrnregenerated systems, which have received much attentionrnin recent years is included.
