For millenniums population on earth is increasing. Towns and mega cities attract inhabitants from therncountry and concentrate them. It can be discussed whether and with what density this is reasonable.rnNevertheless this strong tendency exists and has to be mastered. For our whole life in future it is ofrneminent importance to find solutions for the organization and visions of our towns and their integrationrnin the landscape.rnThere are two opposing fundamental conditions for our human existence:rn1. We need Private Living Space for everybody.rn2. We need rooms and space for all kinds of Public Contacts and Activities.rnThe first and obvious solution is to organize all these functions on the surface of the earth.rnWith proceeding evolution over millenniums additional space in height for habitation and all otherrnactivities became usual. To win the space above the earth has always been a task of ingenious thinkingrnin the history of man. Until today it is a matter of prestige to build the cities with the highest possiblerntower-like buildings.rnLooking on the city centers of New York, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong the question comes up if thernusual building systems with separate skyscrapers positioned close together are the only possibility ofrnorganizing the town space in a reasonable way?rnIn this century the experiences with bridge structures, towers and masts, wide span tent structures,rntransparent glass roofs, pneumatic stabilized biosphere skins and metal spatial structures reached hasrnprogressed remarkable.rnWe have to find out how much traffic we can avoid by intelligent town organization. We needrnresearches how green nature can exist between under and in spite of town structures. We must developrntown structures in which our children will grow up happily and healthy.rnIt is to prove which density of town is reasonable for human evolution. It would be advantageous tornrejoin again working and dwelling.rnThere is a long list of questions and requirements for this task. The solutions of the optimal settlementsrndepend on landscape, climatic situation, the history of a site, on the density of population etc. It seemsrnour important duty to bring subjective proposals for the town of tomorrow.rnThe author brings in focus the structures of cosmopolitan cities.rnConclusion: The intention of the paper shall be to activate a discussion in the IASS about the manifoldrnpossibilities of urban planning space structures.
