A suspen-dome system consists of a single-layer dome system and a prestressed cable-strut system. The gridrnform of the single-layer dome system is a key factor that affects the structural stiffness and weight of the overallrnstructure. By comparing the structural characteristics of the Kiewitt and Lamella domes, a modified Kiewittrnsuspen-dome system is presented in this paper. In such a system, the central and outer part of the single-layerrndome apply Kiewitt and Lamella grid form, respectively. When the configuration of cable-strut system and thernprestress forces in cables are modified correspondingly, several modified Kiewitt suspen-dome system modelsrnwith partial support from the cable-strut system are established. The static behaviors of the models are analyzed.rnThe results show that the cables and struts at the outermost ring are important to enhance the load-bearingrncapacity of the overall system. Compared with the Kiewitt and Lamella suspen-domes, the modified Kiewittrnsuspen-dome system has better distributions of mass and stiffness, enhanced structural stiffness and lighterrnweight.
