SOME CONSTRUCTION DETAILS CONCERNINGCONCRETE SHELLS ACHIEVEMENTS

Reinforced concrete can be mould to a practically unlimited range of shapes, matching harmony between realrnneeded geometry and expressed image. Concrete shells resist external actions through a combination ofrnmembrane and bending stresses. Examples include classical barrel vaults and domes and also new various shapernshells. Proper form, optimum design and good construction technique will yield high performing structures.rnSome of the issues to be considered in enhancing the performances of shells are construction details concerningrnexterior coating, waterproofing, thermal insulation and fixing systems and supports for building services. This isrnthe aim of the present paper.
