CONSIDERATIONS ON THE DEVELOPMENT AND ACHIEVEMENT OFMEMBRANE STRUCTURE IN CHINA

Some typical projects of membrane structures，which have been constructed in China recently, arernintroduced. These projects show the rapid development and the broad utility of membrane structures inrnChina since the completion of membrane structure canopy for Shanghai Stadium with 80,000seats. Thernpaper outlines the advantages, limitations, opportunities and challenges in the development ofrnmembrane structures in China. And it points out that much more research should be done in the fieldsrnof developing new membrane materials, designing advanced analytical software. It also suggests thatrnwe should issue the technical regulations for membrane structure industry, improve the quality andrnperfect the organization in this field. In the paper particular analysis is carried out on damage accidentrnof membrane structure caused by the nature disaster, improper design and incorrect manufacture andrninstallation. It promises to adapt advanced development of membrane structure and lends an impetus tornmembrane structure.
