Beijing Capital International Airport Terminal 3 is designed for 2008 Olympics. The terminal building includesrntwo terminals (T3A, T3B) and a Ground Transportation Center (GTC). The steel structural system of thernterminal building comprises the following components: Roof and Facade steel structure and steel Columnrndepartment. The roof of terminals is a curved structure supported on columns at approximately 41.569m centres.rnA double layer space grid is used to span between the columns. The cantilever columns extending from the mainrnbuilding frame structure or basement provide the supporting of the roof. The facade is supported by verticalrnelements and fixed in between the top floor and roof. The roof structure of GTC is a regular system of east-westrnone-way spanning tied arches at 18m centres north-south. This paper mainly introduced the design concept andrnthe key question in the design of the steel structure of the capital international airport T3.
