Experimental Study on Energy Output Characteristics of Underwater Explosion for Emulsion Explosive

Non-ideal detonation behavior of industrial explosives indicates the difference of their output energy. And the testing method of underwater explosion is an important measure for evaluating the energy output state. The underwater explosion parameters of given composition rock-type emulsion explosives (Ⅰ) were tested in a small cylinder pool (φ5. 5m, H 3. 62m). Also, the underwater explosion parameters of powdery TNT(Ⅱ), class 2 water gel explosive for coal mine(Ⅲ-a) and class 3 water gel explosive for coal mine(Ⅲ~b) were contrasted with them. The experimental testing results showed that: (1) the pick-pressure of underwater explosion for emulsion explosives and other contrasted explosives met the relation of pm(Ⅲ) m(ⅠI) m (Ⅱ), and the time attenuation index θ met the relation of θ(Ⅱ) <θ(ⅠI) <θ (Ⅲ); (2) the value of μEa/Eb for emulsion explosive equaled to 0. 54, and it represented the ratio of shock wave energy and bubble energy of underwater explosion. This value was less than other explosives used in experiment; (3) the ratio of the total energy of underwater explosion and explosion heat of emulsion explosives equaled to 94. 1% or so, and the value of E2/Qv represented the state of the energy output for emulsion explosives. That is to say, emulsion explosives have a better ideal detonation than other industrial explosives. The experimental results and analysis in the article can be regarded as a reference to evaluating the detonation or designing a better composition of emulsion explosives.
