The performance of optimum combining (OC) for a spacediversity reception in digital cellular radio systems with anon-Gaussian multipath fading channel and multiplecochannel interferers (CCI), each having some specifiedaverage power, is examined in this paper. The fadingprocess is specifically modeled by a process that hasmany Gaussian-like properties called spherically invariantrandom process (SIRP). In some practical fadingenvironments, this process has been illustrated that it iscapable to model the multipath fading processappropriately. An exact distribution of outage probabilityis eventually determined as the cumulative densityfunction (cdf) of the output signal-to-interference-plusnoiseratio (SINR) that is greater than some specifiedthreshold, in the general case of arbitrary number ofinterferers N is not less than the small number of antennaelements M (M≤N, M=1,2).
