MODELING TECHNIQUES FOR SIMULATION-BASED PERFORMANCEEVALUATION OF MOBILITY MANAGEMENT SCHEMES

Mobility management is a crucial technology for theseamless access of wireless networks and mobile services.The goal of this paper is to study the basic theory for theperformance evaluation of mobility managementschemes, emphasizing the modeling techniques ofsimulation-based evaluation method. Targetcommunication system modeling issues and workloadmodeling methods are discussed. As the core part of theworkload modeling process, an in-depth discussion onuser behavior modeling techniques, including bothmobility modeling and traffic modeling, are presented inthe paper. Performance evaluation metrics are alsospecified and analyzed.
