GYPSUM BUILDING PRODUCTS IN INDIA: CAN PHOSPHOGYPSUM COMPETE WITH ALTERNATIVES?

The utilisation of gypsum as a construction material is known to us from centuries. As known careless and unreasonable exploitation of such resource material is an invitation to positive peril. Thus it becomes our natural responsibility to act friendly with the environment. It is known from past researches that utilisation of phosphogypsum in conventional gypsum products could provide as attractive method of disposing material, while at the same time offering an alternative supply of natural gypsum. The paper is based on exhaustive literature collected and reviewed by authors for assessing the possible utilisation of phosphogypsum as a construction material and its comparison with other type of gypsums.
