Potentiostatic electrolysis of a mixed aqueous solution of MnSO_4 and cationic porphyrin at +1.0 V (vs Ag/AgCl) on a Pt electrode resulted in the deposition of layered manganese oxide. Porphyrin molecules are intercalated between Mn oxide layers as a cation form, resulting in a stacking with a repeating periodicity of 0.82 nm.
