Novel fiber attachment techniques for miniaturization of planar lightwave circuit module

Micro planar lightwave circuit modules with practical strength were fabricated by novel fiber attachment techniques using capillaries and glass films. In a damp heat storage test at 85°C and 85% RH, the loss increase was less than 1.0 dB after 2000 hours at a wavelength of 636 nm.
