On the thermomechanical modelling of inelastic material behaviour

The development of constitutive models to represent the material behaviour should be based on experimental facts and theoretical principles. Among these thermodynamic consistency is an important macrostructural aspect. The representation by means of internal variables is considered in view of a thermodynamic interpretation of viscoplasticity and plasticity.
