Global Aggregated Traffic Model for LEO Satellite Constellation IoT Network

Internet of Things (IoT) has become an essential part of the coming 5th generation (5G). As a powerful supplementation, satellite systems can extend terrestrial IoT network to a full-time global network. In order to effectively allocate relatively limited on-board resources for meeting massive access demand, global traffic model needs to be studied. In this paper, we analyze the characteristics of satellite-based IoT devices based on corresponding geographic properties and applications. Such characteristics combining with specific LEOSCS design lead to the global traffic model of LEOS-based IoT network. Simulations results are also presented for different satellites in the system.
