Chemical imaging sensors can represent the chemical concentration distribution of an analyte. With a corresponding temporalresolution, the dynamics of chemical and (bio-)chemical processes can be observed. Light-addressable potentiometric sensors(LAPS) are chemical imaging sensors. The position and size of a modulated light pointer that illuminates the sensor plate definesthe measurement spot to be observed. Chemical images can be generated by measuring at multiple positions. This study presentsa newly developed real-time chemical imaging sensor based on the LAPS principle. Using an 8×8 LED array and a FieldProgrammable Gate Array (FPGA) for signal processing, real-time imaging with 30 fps and a delay of less than 100 μs isdemonstrated, which enables immediate observation of concentration distributions.
