Nonwoven materials produced by melt electrospinning of polyamide-6 and its blends with polypropylene, polystyrene and polylactide for oil spills removal
Nonwoven materials based on polyamide-6 and its blends with polypropylene, polystyrene and polylactide were obtained by melt electrospinning. The average diameter of the fibers was in the range of 2-10 μm. The supramolecular structure of the materials was characterized by IR spectroscopy and wide-angle X-ray diffraction. Their surface properties were studied by the contact angles measurements with water and motor oil as test liquids. The produced materials have a high sorption capacity (up to 100 g/g) and a low residual oil content (less than 3 g/g) after desorption.
