We have examined some zirconium organic complexes via an array of characterization techniques, showing that they are amorphous single-phased and single-doped phosphors for white-light emission. Combined with thermogravimetric measurement coupled with a quadrupole mass spectrometer, and inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy and/or mass spectrometry measurements, the detailed infrared spectroscopy analyses indicate that the amorphous phosphor is a sulphur species-doped zirconium oxy-hydroxyl acetate complex. The phosphors exhibit the photoluminescence and color properties comparable to or better than those of the crystalline metal-organic frameworks (MOF_s). or organic-inorganic hybrid semiconductors for white-light emission.
