摘要

An experimental study is conducted to better understand the nonlinear amplification mechanisms of combustion instabilities that play an important role in the segmented solid propellant boosters such as ARIANE 5 rockets. Since fundamental measurements in the actual running conditions are not easy to handle, a cold flow simulation facility is investigated. The mixing layer of interest is characterised by the existence of vortical structures generated as the flow passes for instance through the restrictions created by the inhibitors. Particular conditions induce the shedding of these structures which give rise to a nonlinear amplification of fluctuations of the main parameters (like pressure, velocity etc).
