Synthesis and Characterization of Nickel Substituted Copper Aluminum Oxide and Its Toxicity Study

CuA102 is a potential p-type transparent conductive oxide (TCO) material with widespread applications. The effect of substitution of Ni on Al site of CuA102 metal oxide was studied. CuAll-xNixO_2 (x=0.2) was synthesized by a modified sol-gel technique using nitrate precursors. Prepared powder samples were subjected to further heat treatment at different temperatures such as 500°C, 600°C, 800°C and 1000°C for 3 hours. Structural and morphological characterization were performed using X- ray diffractometer (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FTIR) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). XRD data and SEM images confirms the crystallinity of the sample. An optical bandgap of 2.85eV was measured using UV- Vis absorption spectroscopy. Toxicology studies were assessed using human skin epidermal cell line.
