Reactions between silanes and organic monomers offer an infinity of possibilities to optimize the performance of resins intended for coating applications.These copolymers are well-suited for high-durability protective applications.In particular,coatings based on acrylic-alkoxysilanes copolymers are currently used as isocyanate-free alternatives for a variety of highly demanding applications,such as marine coatings.Additionally,these systems can,in principle,be formulated as moisture-cure single-component(1K)coatings.However,acrylic-alkoxysilanes exhibit drawbacks,such as slow room-temperature cure and high raw material cost.Despite their high potential,acrylic-alkoxysilanes have had so far only fairly limited market penetration.
