In the process of drug discovery, a lot of drug candidates are often excluded from further investigation in vivo because of their side effects or biological instability. However, if we could synthesize these drug candidates at the disease tissue directly in vivo, side effects to other organs may be lessened and the therapeutic window of drug activity can be widened before decomposition.
