Increasing attention has been paid to the environmental toxicity of boron in waters. Boron is a micronutrient for plants and animals, but the range between the deficiency and the excess is narrow. Boron compounds are commonly utilized in various industries, which leads to an increase in boron concentration in wastewater. WHO set a health-based guideline value of 2.4 mg/L for the concentration of boron in drinking water. The effective removal of boron from various types of water has been highly demanded. Besides the removal of boron, the separation of boron isotopes is also an interesting research area. The enrichment of 10B is required for the development of drugs in boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT).1
