摘要

Advertisement is a well-known method to increase the publicity of brands and companies. Due to the size and apperception of aircrafts they were often used e.g. by airlines for branding, logos and large pictures so called sticker. There are different techniques for placing branding or logos. One method is spraying additional paint. A modern technique is the applying of self-adhesive foil. One advantage of this foil is the quickly bonding and removing e.g. after an airline or sponsor change. As result of special effect paintings and foil-coatings we can often find an increased material thickness above CFRP components. In case of lightning strike event an increased paint thickness implicates often a larger CFRP degradation. However, the influence of additionally foil over painted thin CFRP components have to be investigated. This paper presents results of an experimental investigations of the influence of an exemplary PVC foil coated thin CFRP components regarding the lightning strike discharges.
