Direct synthesis of heterocycles by dehydrogenative coupling of diamines and alcohols or aldehydes by supported Pt catalysts

Heterocyclic 2-quinazolines and 2-benzimidazole are important compounds due to their biological activities. Recently, direct dehydrogenative synthetic methods of 2-quinazoline and 2-benzimidazole from diamines with alcohols or aldehydes were reported, but they suffer from limited scope and needs of basic additives and hydrogen-acceptor. Here we report additives-free and acceptor-free methods for these reactions using heterogeneous Pt catalysts.
