The removal of Zn(ll), Pb(ll), Cr(lll) and Cr(VI) ions from aqueous solutions has been done by polymer enhanced ultrafiltration (PEUF) to study the effect of pH and metal ions concentrations which tested at room temperature. In order to investigate the complexation between selected metal ions and polymer; unmodified starch and polyethylene glycol (PEG), this works was carried out in a cross-flow PEUF system. Unmodified starch is proposed as water-based polymer in this study. Response on metal retention (in total recirculation) and permeate flux have been confronted simultaneously. Moreover, this works also focusing on the performance of PEUF study neither metal ion solutions have been demonstrated independently nor simultaneously, hence comparisons on rejections coefficients and permeate flux could be done. Rejection coefficients has been obtained by unmodified starch and PEG is around 80% for each metal tested simultaneously while there are only little effects on flux is showed at low metal concentration, 10ppm and pH 7. The performance of proposed polymer, unmodified starch is found could be competed with establish polymer, PEG on removal of metal ions in PEUF system due to the ability towards rejection of selected metal ions in this study.
