Prayer (Shalat) is an activity of muslim obedience that must be performed five times a day. To provide some benefits for mental and physical health, a muslim need to performed that prayer movement perfectly. However, it is difficult for elderly, moreover sitting to standing movement. This study aimed to investigate the effect of adding armrest and seat assist on chair for elderly prayer performance (sitting to standing position when prayer). Elderly consisting of 13 females and 4 males (age: mean±SD: 68,3 ±5,8 and 69,3 ±13,5) participated in this study. 4 types of wooden chairs for prayer were used in the experiment: AA chair (a chair without any addition); AAB chair (a chair with additional armrest); AAC chair (a chair with additional seat assist); AABC chair (chair with additional armrest and seat assist). The primary data were collected from the experiment like video-recorded, measured using a stopwatch, interview, and observation. Data analysis using chi square analysis and repeat measures anova analysis on IBM SPSS version 23.0 for Windows 2010 Pro. This study found that armrest and seat assist affect the duration of participant's change of position from sitting to standing, and it also affect their response. The result of the study can be used as a consideration in designing prayer chair for elderly. It is concluded that armrest and seat assist addition significantly affect the duration of position change from sitting to standing, and on the response in performing sit-to-stand movement in prayer. Therefore, this study recommends adding armrest and seat assist in prayer chair for elderly.
