Proposed advantages tor stifle arthroscopy over arthrotomy are decreased tissue disruption with improved visualization. Limiting tissue disruption may provide more rapid return to function and slower progression of OA while improving visualization allows for a more accurate assessment of total joint pathology, which may aid in directing treatment strategies. The employment of stifle arthroscopy is time consuming and requires a steep learning curve but despite these limitations it continues to evolveand grow within our profession.
