CHARACTERIZATION OF DIFFERENT PAEK POLYMERS AND IMPLEMENTATION FOR PREPREGS, LAMINATES AND TOWPREGS

Porcher Industries has developed an innovative process for the production of UD carbon reinforcements impregnated with thermoplastic resins called towpreg. This semi-product is mainly dedicated to Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) and filament winding processes. The first part of the presentation will deal with the state of the art of product dedicated to Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) then we will present our process and finally we will compare our technology versus the standard slit tape process with a list of parameters challenged by OEM and End-Users. The second part of the presentation will be focused on the comparison of process parameters, thermal properties and mechanical properties of different qualified or non-qualified PAEK polymers on the market. Finally, we will present development axis of Porcher Industries on this subject.
