A Recent Review on Rapeseed Processing and Comprehensive Utilization in China

The oil production and comprehensive utilization of rapeseed in China was reviewed.Rapeseed is one of the most important oilseed resources in China,which is the top producer in the world with an annual yield of rapeseed reaches over 12 million tons.It was estimated that the rapeseed planting area in China is about 8 million ha.now,and there are still 13.3 million ha.cropland (idle in winter) available for rapeseed planting.Furthermore,with the popularizing of planting "double-low"variety of rapeseed (has higher productivity),the rapeseed yield in China has greater potential to grow.As of the end of 2010,there were 819 rapeseed processing factories in China with total processing capability of 174.1 thousand tons per day (close to 40 million tons per year).These factories are mainly distributed in the middle and lower drainage area of Yangzi river,inner Mongolia and Qinghai province.Hubei,Jiangsu,Anhui,Sichuan and Hunan are major rapeseed processing areas,which have 450 rapeseed processing factories with daily processing capability of 108.2 thousand tons,accounting for around 62.1％ of the total processing capaicity in China.
