Titanium Co., Ltd. has developed a high-strength titanium alloy whose composition has never been reported. Pre-alloyed powder metallurgical process was utilized in order to satisfy both requirements of production cost and mechanical property. Ti-6Al-4V(Ti-64) alloy powder including 3 to 4 mass% of Fe was extruded at near the β transformation temperature (Tβ ), and followed by hot rolling at lower temperature than Tβ and fully densified bars of 20 mm in diameter were obtained. These bars show high tensile strength of around 1300MPa with elongation of 10%. Fe containing Ti-64 alloy bars seem very promising in the application for aerospace or automobile.
